Solar Aterno 45cm Polished Steel Sphere Water Feature

The compact Aterno sphere with a powerful 800LPH battery-backed solar system — giving you far more flexibility over where your water feature can be positioned.

The Solar Aterno 45cm Polished Steel Sphere Water Feature combines our most compact polished Aterno sphere with a dedicated solar pump, rechargeable battery and separate LED uplight.

Made from grade 304 stainless steel, the highly polished 45cm sphere reflects surrounding planting, paving and sky as water travels across its curved surface. Its compact dimensions make it particularly well suited to patios, courtyards, smaller gardens and positions closer to seating.

Unlike a basic direct-solar fountain, the supplied 800LPH solar system includes battery backup. Solar energy can be stored for later use, while timer and constant operating modes give you greater control over when the feature runs.

The heavy-duty reservoir installs below ground and can be covered with decorative pebbles, leaving the polished sphere as the main visible feature.

Ideal for smaller spaces

The 45cm diameter works particularly well on smaller patios, in courtyards, amongst planting and in positions viewed at relatively close range.

02   BATTERY-BACKED SOLAR

Not just direct sunlight

The rechargeable battery stores solar energy, allowing the system to continue operating when sunlight levels fall rather than stopping immediately when cloud passes over.

03   MIRROR FINISH

Water, light and reflection

The polished steel reflects the surrounding garden while flowing water constantly changes the reflected image across the curved surface.

A more capable solar setup with battery backup and control.

This Aterno is supplied with our 800LPH brushless solar pump kit rather than a basic direct-solar pump. The solar panel charges the rechargeable battery control system while powering the feature, giving you greater flexibility when sunlight changes and allowing stored energy to be used later.

01   BATTERY BACKUP

Store solar energy

A fully charged battery can provide up to approximately four hours of operation without sunlight, depending on flow setting, lighting use, charge level and battery condition.

02   TIMER MODE

Choose when it operates

Timer operation gives you more control over when you enjoy the feature rather than relying entirely on the strength of the sun at that moment.

03   VARIABLE FLOW

Adjust the water effect

The pump output can be adjusted to change the strength of the water flow and balance the appearance of the sphere against available solar energy.

04   LED LIGHTING

Separate six-LED uplight

The supplied uplight can be positioned independently at the base of the sphere to illuminate the flowing water and polished steel after dark.

VIEW THE 800LPH SOLAR PUMP SYSTEM

POSITION THE FEATURE, THEN THE PANEL

The sphere itself does not need to sit in full sun.

The solar panel is separate from the water feature, so the Aterno can be positioned where it looks best while the panel is placed nearby in a brighter, more exposed position.
Feature Position Choose the location primarily around how the sphere works within your garden design.
Solar Panel Position Place the panel where it receives good direct sunlight and avoid prolonged shade from buildings or trees.
4.5m Pump Cable The pump connects to the battery control unit with approximately 4.5m of cable.
2m Panel Cable The solar panel connects separately to the battery control unit, allowing the two components to be positioned appropriately.
5m LED Cable The separate LED uplight has approximately 5m of cable from the control unit for flexible positioning.
UK Weather Available solar energy varies naturally with season, cloud cover, panel orientation and the amount of direct sunlight reaching the panel.

Ideal where bringing mains electricity to the chosen position would be inconvenient. The 800LPH system combines solar charging with rechargeable battery backup.

OUR SIZING TIP

The 45cm sphere works best when it can be appreciated relatively close up — beside a seating area, on a patio or within a smaller planting scheme. If the feature will sit further from the house or amongst larger planting, the 56cm or 75cm Aterno will usually create a stronger focal point.

Delivered kerbside by a specialist pallet courier, with tracking provided after dispatch. Larger items may arrive in a protective wooden crate, which will require a suitable pry bar or similar tool to open.
