A versatile mirrored sphere with a matching polished base and powerful battery-backed solar system — no mains cable and no reservoir to bury.

The Solar Aterno 56cm Polished Steel Sphere & Base Water Feature combines one of the most versatile Aterno sphere sizes with an above-ground reservoir and our powerful 800LPH battery-backed solar pump system.

Made from grade 304 stainless steel, the polished 56cm sphere reflects planting, paving and changing skies while water travels across its curved surface. At approximately 88cm overall height, the raised design gives the sphere considerably more presence than the ground-level version.

The heavy-duty reservoir sits inside a matching polished stainless-steel surround, so there is no need to excavate a pebble pool. Solar power also removes the need to run a permanent mains electrical cable to the feature, making this a particularly flexible choice for patios, terraces and established gardens.

The reservoir remains above ground

The heavy-duty reservoir is concealed inside the polished steel base, avoiding the need to excavate beneath an existing patio or garden surface.

The supplied 800LPH solar system includes rechargeable battery backup, giving you more positioning freedom than a mains-powered installation.

Raising the 56cm sphere above the reservoir increases the overall visual height and helps the feature stand out amongst planting and patio furniture.

ABOVE-GROUND ATERNO

Place it on the patio without burying a pebble pool.

The stainless-steel surround turns the reservoir into part of the finished feature. The complete installation can sit above ground on a suitable firm and level surface, making it ideal where excavation is difficult, undesirable or simply unnecessary.

This Aterno is supplied with our 800LPH brushless solar pump kit rather than a basic direct-solar pump. The system combines an 8W solar panel with a rechargeable battery control unit, allowing stored solar energy to continue powering the feature when sunlight falls.

01 BATTERY BACKUP

A fully charged battery can provide up to approximately four hours of operation without sunlight, depending on flow, lighting use and battery condition.

02 TIMER MODE

Choose when it operates

Timer operation gives you more control over when the feature runs instead of making operation entirely dependent on immediate sunlight.

03 VARIABLE FLOW

Adjust the water effect

Fine-tune the pump output to achieve the water flow you prefer and to balance performance against available stored energy.

04 LED LIGHTING

Separate six-LED uplight

Position the included light independently around the base of the sphere to illuminate the water and reflective stainless steel after dark.

VIEW THE 800LPH SOLAR PUMP SYSTEM

POSITION THE FEATURE, THEN THE PANEL

The sphere itself doesn't need to sit in full sun.

Place the Aterno where it works best visually, then position the separate solar panel nearby where it can receive stronger direct sunlight.

Feature Position Choose the sphere position around the patio or garden design rather than around the location of a mains socket.

Solar Panel Position Place the panel in an open position with good direct sunlight and minimise prolonged shade from trees or buildings.

4.5m Pump Cable The pump connects to the battery control unit with approximately 4.5m of cable.

2m Panel Cable The solar panel connects separately to the control unit so its position can be optimised for sunlight.

5m LED Cable The separate six-LED uplight has approximately 5m of cable from the battery control unit.

UK Weather Solar performance naturally varies with season, cloud cover, panel orientation and the amount of direct sunlight available.

The standard solar version uses the same polished 56cm sphere and 800LPH battery-backed solar system, but the reservoir installs below ground so decorative pebbles can meet the sphere directly.

The 56cm sphere and base is a particularly versatile choice because its 88cm overall height gives it noticeably more presence than the compact 45cm while still fitting comfortably into most domestic gardens. Move to the 75cm where the feature will sit further from the house, amongst larger planting or within a more substantial landscaped area.
