SOLAR PUMPS / FOUNTAINS & PONDS
Power a compatible fountain or create a decorative pond fountain without running a permanent mains electricity supply across the garden.
Our 200LPH and 800LPH solar systems can be used with suitable water features or directly in ponds using the supplied fountain heads. The key is matching the pump's flow and lift to the job it needs to do.
No permanent mains cable / Battery backed / Pond fountain heads included
WHY CHOOSE SOLAR?
Solar is particularly useful where running a permanent electrical supply to a pond, border or feature would be inconvenient.
01 EASY POSITIONING
Position the water feature where it looks best while placing the solar panel separately in a sunnier area of the garden.
02 BATTERY BACKED
The battery system stores energy generated by the panel, helping operation continue when direct sunlight becomes intermittent.
03 POND USE
Use the supplied fountain heads to create a decorative spray directly in a suitable pond without installing mains electricity beside the water.
200LPH OR 800LPH?
Flow rate and lift both matter. A pump designed for a small bubbling fountain cannot simply replace a much larger mains pump.
200LPH / SMALL & GENTLE
Designed for small fountains and low-flow applications, with a maximum flow of 200 litres per hour and maximum lift of approximately 70cm.
Best suited to small bowls, compact self-contained fountains, gentle bubbling effects, small cascades and small pond fountain applications.
It is also a potential solar conversion for an existing fountain originally using a similarly sized low-output mains pump.
800LPH / MEDIUM & MORE POWERFUL
A considerably stronger system providing up to 800 litres per hour with a stated maximum lift of approximately 2 metres.
Suitable for many medium spheres, bubbling bowls, stone columns, millstone-style features and other fountains designed around a similar flow requirement.
It can also create a stronger pond fountain effect or convert a compatible mains fountain where the original pump requirement is within its capability.
CONVERTING A MAINS FOUNTAIN TO SOLAR
A solar pump can be an excellent way to convert an existing mains fountain, but only when its flow and lift are reasonably matched to the pump the fountain was designed to use.
TWO WAYS TO USE THEM
The same solar system can serve very different purposes depending on how it is installed.
USE 01 / POND FOUNTAIN
Fit one of the supplied fountain heads and position the pump directly in a suitable pond. This is one of the simplest ways to introduce moving water without installing a permanent electrical supply beside the pond. The interchangeable heads allow different fountain effects to be created.
USE 02 / SOLAR CONVERSION
Replace the existing mains pump with a solar system when the required flow, lift and hose arrangement are compatible. Always check the original pump specification rather than assuming a solar pump will work simply because the hose connection fits.
WHEN SOLAR IS NOT THE RIGHT CHOICE
Maximum lift should never be confused with available water volume. An 800LPH pump capable of lifting water vertically cannot replace a 2,000LPH, 3,000LPH or larger pump simply because the fountain is below its stated maximum lift.
NOT SUITABLE
Architectural water walls, large cascades, very large spheres, multiple-outlet fountains and other high-volume designs need substantially more water than either current solar system can provide.
EXAMPLE / STAFFORA
A Staffora water wall needs a high volume of water distributed across the top of the panel to create coverage over its broad faces. These large pumps are far beyond the output of an 800LPH solar system, so Staffora is not suitable for this type of solar conversion.
GETTING THE BEST FROM SOLAR
Use the available cable to position the panel where it receives the strongest practical sunlight. The water feature itself can often remain in a more shaded or visually attractive position nearby.
NOT SURE WHICH PUMP?
If you are converting an existing water feature, check its current LPH, maximum lift and hose size before ordering. As a simple guide: 200LPH is for small gentle fountains, 800LPH covers many medium applications, and fountains using 2,000LPH or more should remain with an appropriately sized mains pump.
