Solar Aterno 56cm Polished Steel Sphere Water Feature

A versatile mid-size mirrored sphere with a powerful 800LPH battery-backed solar system — designed for gardens where you want more presence without needing mains power.

The Solar Aterno 56cm Polished Steel Sphere Water Feature sits between the compact 45cm and larger 75cm Aterno spheres, making it a particularly versatile size for patios, borders and medium-sized landscaped gardens.

Made from grade 304 stainless steel, the polished 56cm sphere reflects planting, paving and changing skies while water travels evenly across its curved surface. The increased diameter gives it noticeably more visual presence than the 45cm model without moving into the statement scale of the 75cm.

Power comes from the supplied 800LPH battery-backed solar pump system. The rechargeable battery can store solar energy for later use, while variable flow and timer controls give you far greater flexibility than a basic direct-sunlight solar fountain.

A fully charged battery can provide up to approximately four hours of operation without sunlight, depending on flow setting, lighting use and battery condition.

Timer operation gives you more control over when the water feature operates instead of making operation entirely dependent on immediate sunlight.

Position the included uplight independently at the base of the sphere to illuminate the flowing water and reflective surface after dark.

The sphere itself does not need to sit in full sunlight.

The separate solar panel means the sphere can be positioned where it looks best in the garden while the panel is placed nearby where it can receive stronger direct sunlight.

Feature Position Choose the sphere position around the garden design rather than around the location of a mains socket.

Solar Panel Position Position the panel where it receives good direct sunlight and minimise prolonged shade from buildings and trees.

4.5m Pump Cable The pump connects to the battery control unit with approximately 4.5m of cable.

2m Panel Cable The solar panel connects separately to the control unit, allowing its position to be optimised for sunlight.

5m LED Cable The separate six-LED uplight has approximately 5m of cable from the battery control unit.

The solar and mains versions use the same 56cm polished Aterno sphere. The main difference is whether you prioritise positioning flexibility or operation independent of solar charging conditions.

More freedom over positioning

Choose solar where running permanent mains electricity to the preferred garden position would be inconvenient. The rechargeable battery also gives far greater flexibility than a direct-solar-only system.

The raised version uses the same 56cm polished sphere and 800LPH battery-backed solar system, but conceals the reservoir within a polished stainless-steel base. This removes the need to excavate a pebble pool and raises the complete feature to approximately 88cm overall.

OUR SIZING TIP

The 56cm is a particularly useful all-round size because it has enough reflective surface to remain noticeable within normal garden planting without becoming overly dominant. Choose 45cm for tighter spaces, or move to 75cm when the feature will sit further from the house, amongst larger planting or within a more substantial landscape.
