Description

AQUA MODA STAFFORA   /   MIXED-METAL ARCHITECTURAL WATER WALL

Staffora 1.42m Polished Steel & Corten Base Water Feature

A distinctive mixed-metal water wall combining a mirror-polished stainless-steel panel with the warmer, naturally developing character of a Corten base.

Exclusive to Aqua Moda, this Staffora Polished Steel & Corten Base Water Feature has been designed around the contrast between two very different metal finishes rather than a single uniform material.

The 1.2m Grade 304 stainless-steel panel creates a bright, reflective vertical surface, while the architectural reservoir base is wrapped in genuine Corten weathering steel. As the Corten develops outdoors, warmer rust, orange and deep brown tones create an increasingly distinctive contrast against the polished panel above.

The complete feature stands approximately 142cm high. Its heavy-duty reservoir remains entirely above ground within the Corten base, allowing you to introduce the Staffora look without excavating your patio or garden.

A DIFFERENT TAKE ON STAFFORA

Two contrasting materials in a more compact architectural format.

This design combines the clean reflective character of polished stainless steel with the warmer natural appearance of Corten, but in proportions that are easier to integrate into patios, courtyards and smaller landscaped gardens.

01   MIXED-METAL DESIGN

Cool steel meets warm Corten

A mirror-polished upper panel contrasts deliberately with the darker, naturally weathering base below.

02   142CM OVERALL

Architectural without overwhelming

Strong enough to create a clear focal point while remaining easier to integrate into more compact garden spaces.

03   NO DIGGING

Completely above ground

The reservoir is contained within the Corten base, removing the need to excavate a pebble pool into the landscape.

THE DEFINING FEATURE

Polished steel above. Weathering Corten below.

The visual interest comes from the way these two materials respond differently outdoors. The polished panel immediately reflects its surroundings and changes with the water flowing across it, while the Corten base develops more gradually as its natural patina matures.

Reflective upper panel Mirror-polished Grade 304 stainless steel reflects planting, architecture and changing skies.
Living Corten base The weathering-steel surround develops increasingly warm rust, orange and brown tones outdoors.
Designed as one composition The contrast intentionally separates the vertical water wall from the architectural base beneath it.

TWO MATERIALS   /   TWO DIFFERENT CHARACTERS

A design built around contrast.

Instead of trying to match the panel and base, this Staffora uses the differences between polished stainless steel and naturally weathering Corten as part of the finished design.

MIRROR-POLISHED STAINLESS STEEL

Light, reflection and movement

The 1.2m Grade 304 panel is polished to create a highly reflective surface. Planting, buildings and sky appear across the steel, while flowing water continually changes and distorts those reflections. Regular cleaning helps maintain the polished appearance and remove water marks and general outdoor residue.

GENUINE CORTEN STEEL

Warmth, texture and natural change

The reservoir surround is genuine weathering steel designed to develop a protective rust-coloured patina outdoors. The base will naturally change after installation, creating variations of rust, orange and deep brown beneath the cooler polished panel.

IMPORTANT — CORTEN & PALE PAVING

During the natural weathering process, the Corten base can release rust-coloured water or residue. Consider this before positioning the feature directly on pale, porous or easily stained paving and finished surfaces.

THE WATER EFFECT

Water flows across both broad polished faces.

The supplied 3000LPH pump carries water internally to the top of the panel before it cascades down the broad front and rear surfaces and returns to the reservoir inside the base.
Front + rear water flow Movement and reflection can be appreciated from both principal sides of the Staffora.
45cm broad panel A generous reflective surface within compact overall proportions.
Only 6cm deep The narrow panel maintains the clean, architectural water-wall profile.
3000LPH pump Mains-powered recirculating pump supplied with approximately 10m of cable.

ARCHITECTURAL WATER WALL   /   NO DIGGING

The reservoir is completely concealed within the Corten base.

The finished lower section appears to be a purpose-built Corten reservoir, but the structural water container inside is actually a heavy-duty plastic pebble pool. This provides a practical watertight reservoir while allowing the weathering-steel wrap to create the finished architectural appearance.

Heavy-duty internal reservoir A strong plastic pebble pool provides the functional water container beneath the decorative exterior.
21cm architectural base The above-ground reservoir raises the 1.2m panel to approximately 142cm overall.
No buried pool required Particularly useful on existing patios and finished areas where excavation would create unnecessary disruption.

ABOVE-GROUND INSTALLATION

Designed for straightforward positioning on a finished surface.

Choose a firm, completely level and suitably load-bearing position, then assemble the reservoir, panel, pump and lighting in accordance with the supplied instructions.
01 Choose the position Select a firm, completely level and suitably load-bearing finished surface.
02 Install the reservoir Position the heavy-duty plastic pebble pool securely inside the Corten steel surround.
03 Fit the pump Place the supplied 3000LPH pump inside the reservoir and connect it to the Staffora panel.
04 Install the panel Fit the heavy-duty reservoir lid and secure the polished water wall according to the supplied instructions.
05 Add the lighting Position the multicolour LED uplight at the base so it shines upwards across the flowing water.
06 Finish with pebbles Decorative pebbles can be placed over the reservoir lid while retaining suitable access for future maintenance.

COMPACT ENOUGH FOR CLOSER SPACES

A mixed-metal focal point for patios, courtyards and contemporary gardens.

At 142cm overall, this version offers the distinctive polished-steel-and-Corten look without requiring the scale of the larger 2.02m mixed Staffora.

PATIOS

A feature close to seating

Its compact proportions make it easy to appreciate the water movement and material contrast at relatively close range.

COURTYARDS

Strong vertical form

The 45cm-wide panel and compact base create height without occupying excessive floor space.

PLANTED SETTINGS

Works especially well with greenery

Green planting creates a strong backdrop to both the polished silver panel and warmer weathered base.

CONTEMPORARY GARDENS

Use the materials as part of the design

Particularly effective alongside modern paving, natural stone, timber screening and architectural planting.

POSITIONING YOUR MIXED-METAL STAFFORA

Consider the finished surface as well as the view.

Because this model is completely above ground, its location should provide a firm level foundation while also taking account of wind exposure, occasional splash and the natural weathering of the Corten base.

Use a firm level surface The complete reservoir and panel should stand securely on a stable and suitably load-bearing surface.
Consider Corten run-off Avoid susceptible pale or porous paving where rust-coloured residue from the developing base may be unwanted.
Think about wind exposure Walls, fences and planting can provide useful shelter around the vertical water surface.

COMPLETE WATER FEATURE KIT

The complete mixed-metal installation.

The Staffora is supplied with the polished panel, heavy-duty reservoir system, contrasting Corten surround, pump, lighting and required water connections.
1.2m Polished Staffora Panel 1mm Grade 304 mirror-polished stainless steel.
Heavy-Duty Reservoir 65 × 44 × 21cm plastic pebble pool.
Corten Steel Reservoir Wrap Contrasting genuine weathering-steel surround for the above-ground base.
Heavy-Duty Reservoir Lid Supports the installation and optional decorative pebble finish.
3000LPH Water Pump Recirculating pump supplied with approximately 10m of cable.
Multicolour LED Uplight Position at the foot of the panel to illuminate the moving water after dark.
WATER BY DAY   /   ILLUMINATED AFTER DARK

Reflection, weathered steel and light create different effects throughout the day.

During daylight, moving water continually changes the reflections across the polished steel while the Corten base provides a warmer visual anchor below. After dark, the supplied multicolour LED uplight shines upwards across the flowing water and emphasises the height of the panel.

Multicolour LED uplighting included Position independently at the base of the panel for an upward wash of light across the polished steel and moving water.
PREFER A MORE UNIFORM STAFFORA?

Two closely related alternatives.

This mixed-metal design is deliberately distinctive. If you prefer the Staffora in a simpler single-finish configuration, these are the closest alternatives.

ALL-POLISHED   /   ABOVE GROUND

1.42m Polished Steel Staffora & Base

Uses the same polished 1.2m water wall but replaces the contrasting Corten base with a matching polished stainless-steel surround.

POLISHED STEEL   /   IN-GROUND

1.2m Polished Staffora

Uses a similar polished panel but conceals the reservoir below ground, leaving the water wall to rise directly from a pebble-covered landscape.

ENGINEERED & HAND-FINISHED

Characteristics of a fabricated mixed-metal water feature.

The Staffora is assembled and finished by hand. Minor weld marks, slight creases or small surface variations can occasionally occur as part of fabrication. These characteristics generally become less noticeable once water is flowing and the Corten continues to weather, and they do not affect the operation or expected lifespan of the feature.
