A distinctive two-metre water wall combining a mirror-polished stainless-steel panel with the warmth and natural character of a weathering Corten base.

Exclusive to Aqua Moda, this Staffora XL Polished Steel & Corten Base Water Feature has been designed around the contrast between two very different metal finishes rather than a single uniform material.

Above, the 1.8m Grade 304 stainless-steel panel creates a bright, highly reflective vertical surface. Below, the matching architectural base is wrapped in genuine Corten weathering steel, introducing warmer rust, orange and deep brown tones as the material naturally develops outdoors.

The complete feature stands approximately 202cm high. Its heavy-duty reservoir is contained entirely within the Corten base, giving this statement water wall a completely above-ground installation with no buried pebble pool required.

Rather than matching the panel and base in the same finish, this design deliberately uses polished stainless steel and weathering Corten together to create a stronger visual contrast.

THE DEFINING FEATURE

The strength of this design comes from contrast. The polished water wall responds instantly to its surroundings, reflecting planting, buildings and sky, while the Corten base develops more slowly over time. One surface is bright and reflective; the other becomes increasingly warm, textured and individual.

Reflective upper panel Mirror-polished Grade 304 stainless steel changes throughout the day as light, water and reflections move across it.

Living Corten base The weathering-steel surround develops its own rust-coloured patina after exposure outdoors.

Designed as one composition The contrasting finishes visually separate the tall water wall from the lower architectural reservoir base.

A deliberately contrasting finish.

The polished stainless steel and Corten are intended to behave differently outdoors, giving the feature a changing appearance rather than a uniform monochrome finish.

MIRROR-POLISHED STAINLESS STEEL

Movement, light and reflection

The 1.8m Grade 304 stainless-steel panel is polished to create a highly reflective finish. Planting, architecture and sky appear across the surface, while cascading water continually distorts and changes those reflections. Regular cleaning helps maintain the polished appearance and remove water marks and general outdoor residue.

GENUINE CORTEN STEEL

Warmth, texture and natural change

The reservoir surround is genuine weathering steel designed to develop a protective rust-coloured patina outdoors. Rust, orange and deep brown tones develop naturally, creating an intentionally warmer contrast beneath the cool polished panel.

IMPORTANT — CORTEN & PALE PAVING

During the natural weathering process, the Corten base can release rust-coloured water or residue. Consider this when positioning the feature directly on pale, porous or easily stained paving and finished surfaces.

THE WATER EFFECT

Water travels down both broad polished faces.

The 3500LPH pump carries water internally to the top of the 1.8m panel before it is distributed across the broad front and rear surfaces and returned to the reservoir inside the base.

Front + rear flow Water can be appreciated from both principal sides of the polished panel.

55cm broad face A substantial reflective water surface creates strong movement without excessive overall width.

Only 6cm deep The exceptionally slim panel gives the feature its distinctive architectural blade-like profile.

3500LPH pump A self-contained mains-powered recirculating system with approximately 10m of pump cable.

TWO-METRE SCALE / NO DIGGING

The complete reservoir is concealed within the Corten base.

Although the finished lower section appears to be a substantial Corten reservoir, the functional water container inside is a heavy-duty plastic pebble pool. This provides a strong and practical water reservoir while the weathering-steel wrap creates the finished architectural appearance.

21cm architectural base The above-ground reservoir raises the 1.8m panel to approximately 202cm overall.

No buried pool required A useful option where excavation of an existing patio or landscaped surface is undesirable.

ABOVE-GROUND INSTALLATION

Designed to stand on the finished landscape.

At approximately 202cm overall, the complete water feature should be installed on a firm, level and suitably load-bearing surface and secured in accordance with the supplied installation instructions.

01 Choose the position Select a firm, completely level and suitably load-bearing finished surface.

02 Install the reservoir Position the heavy-duty plastic pebble pool securely inside the Corten steel surround.

03 Fit the pump Place the supplied 3500LPH pump inside the reservoir and connect it to the Staffora panel.

04 Install the panel Fit the heavy-duty lid and secure the 1.8m polished water wall according to the supplied instructions.

05 Add the lighting Position the multicolour LED uplight at the base so it shines upwards across the flowing water.

06 Finish the reservoir Decorative pebbles can be added over the visible lid while retaining suitable access for future maintenance.

The mixed finish gives this Staffora a stronger identity than a conventional single-material water wall, making its position within the landscape especially important.

Choose a sheltered position Walls, fencing, buildings and substantial planting can help reduce direct wind across the tall water surface.

Use a firm level surface The complete feature should sit securely on a stable and suitably load-bearing finished surface.

Consider Corten run-off Avoid susceptible pale or porous paving where rust-coloured residue from the weathering base may be unwanted.

WATER BY DAY / ILLUMINATED AFTER DARK

The contrast becomes even more pronounced after dark.

During daylight, the polished steel reflects its surroundings while the Corten base provides a warmer visual anchor below. After dark, the supplied multicolour LED uplight shines upwards across the moving water and emphasises the full two-metre silhouette.

ENGINEERED & HAND-FINISHED

Characteristics of a large fabricated metal water feature.

The Staffora is assembled and finished by hand. Minor weld marks, slight creases or small surface variations can occasionally occur as part of fabrication. These characteristics generally become less noticeable once water is flowing and the Corten base continues to weather, and they do not affect the operation or expected lifespan of the feature.
