Rosara Rainbow Sandstone 70cm Babbling Bowl Water Feature

A substantial hand-carved natural sandstone bowl designed to become a genuine focal point rather than simply another garden accessory.

At approximately 72cm across, this is the largest conventional Rainbow Sandstone babbling bowl in the Rosara collection and the natural choice where scale and presence really matter.

Water rises gently from the centre before spreading across the broad sandstone surface and cascading around the perimeter into the hidden reservoir below. The generous diameter creates a much larger area of moving water, reflections and changing natural colour.

Each bowl is carved from genuine rainbow sandstone, with individual layers of cream, gold, orange, red, brown and occasional purple tones. Once wet, these colours become deeper and considerably more dramatic.

A wide expanse of softly moving water.

Water rises gently through the centre of the bowl before spreading outwards across the broad sandstone surface.

With around 72cm of stone to travel across, the water has space to create changing ripples, reflections and subtle movement before reaching the perimeter.

It then cascades softly over the edge and disappears into the concealed pebble pool beneath, where it is continuously recirculated.

The relatively shallow 16cm profile is important. Despite the substantial diameter, the Rosara remains visually calm and grounded rather than becoming a bulky object within the garden.

Its impact comes from the breadth of natural stone and moving water rather than unnecessary height.

Genuine rainbow sandstone

A large natural canvas of colour, layers and mineral movement.

Rainbow sandstone can contain a remarkably varied combination of cream, gold, ochre, orange, red, brown, pink, grey and occasional purple mineral tones.

On a bowl of this scale, those natural variations have space to develop across a much broader surface, producing a feature that feels individual rather than manufactured.

Natural bands may run across the stone, colours can change considerably from one area to another and the exact character of each bowl will differ.

Your bowl will be unique

Colour, banding, mineral markings, edge detail and exact dimensions naturally vary between pieces. Product photography should therefore be considered representative rather than an exact colour map of the bowl you will receive.

Give it room to breathe

A statement bowl deserves a deliberate position.

This is not the Rosara to squeeze into a small leftover gap. The larger bowl works best where its full circular form can be appreciated and where there is enough space around it for the stone to remain visually distinct.

Consider positioning it centrally within a gravel area, at the intersection of garden sight lines, within a generous border or close to a terrace where the movement and sound of the water can be enjoyed.

Because the bowl remains relatively low, it can create significant impact without blocking views through the garden.

A substantial bowl with the working system hidden below.

The Rosara is supplied with a 90cm diameter heavy-duty pebble pool. Once installed below the finished surface, the reservoir disappears from view so the large sandstone bowl remains the focal point.

Choose the position

Select a firm, level location with sufficient surrounding space and access to a suitable outdoor electrical supply.

Excavate

Prepare the opening required for the supplied 90cm diameter heavy-duty reservoir.

Level the pool

Position the reservoir securely and ensure it is level before completing the surrounding ground preparation.

Install the pump

Position the supplied recirculating pump within the reservoir and connect the water supply to the stone.

Prepare the support

Ensure the heavy-duty support area is secure, level and ready to carry the substantial natural stone bowl.

Position the bowl

Carefully locate and centre the large sandstone bowl over the reservoir support.

Finish the surface

Conceal the reservoir with decorative pebbles while retaining suitable access for future pump maintenance.

Fill & enjoy

Fill the reservoir and switch on the pump. Water spreads across the broad stone before continuously returning below.

No permanent water supply required The feature uses a self-contained recirculating system. Once filled, the same water is continuously reused. Periodic topping up is required to replace water lost naturally through evaporation and splash.

When dry

The sandstone displays softer creams, ochres, oranges, reds, browns and occasional purple or grey tones, with natural layers visible throughout the stone.

When wet

Water substantially deepens the colour, increases contrast between the mineral bands and gives the broad stone surface a much richer and more saturated appearance.
