Sienna Ceramic Fountain

A substantial hand-finished terracotta fountain with elegant proportions, an organic mottled glaze and the presence to become a genuine garden focal point.

Standing approximately 80cm high and 75cm across, the Sienna is one of the largest ceramic fountains in the Aqua Moda collection. Its tall tapered neck and generous rounded body give it the proportions of a crafted garden vessel rather than a conventional water feature.

Water rises gently from the centre before spilling over the rim and travelling down the glazed exterior. The flowing water brings the mottled surface to life, deepening the dark grey, brown and amber tones before returning to the concealed reservoir below.

Each Sienna is individually hand-finished, so subtle variation in glaze tone and surface character is part of the design rather than something to be hidden.

Rather than projecting a large jet, water spills softly over the rim and travels down the glazed exterior, bringing movement and sound without overwhelming the design.

The Sienna water effect

A gentle sheet of water across a richly glazed surface.

Water rises into the top of the Sienna before flowing over the rim and travelling down the outside of the pot.

The effect is intentionally understated. There is no high fountain jet competing with the shape of the ceramic; instead, moving water follows the form of the vessel itself.

As the glaze becomes wet, colours deepen and reflections move across the curved body, adding another layer of character to the mottled finish.

Over-rim flow Water spills naturally over the ceramic edge.

Glazed surface movement The flow tracks down the curved body and animates the finish.

Concealed return Water returns to the hidden pebble pool below and continuously recirculates.

Individual surface character

A glaze designed to look crafted, not factory-perfect.

The Sienna's finish blends dark grey, brown and amber tones across the surface in an organic mottled pattern.

The colouring isn't intended to be completely uniform. Subtle differences in tone, texture and firing give each fountain a slightly different appearance and prevent the ceramic from feeling mass-produced.

Water adds another dimension by darkening sections of the glaze and introducing changing reflections across the rounded body.

Every Sienna is individual

Because each fountain is hand-finished and fired individually, variation in glaze colour and surface texture should be expected. These differences form part of the character of the piece.

Wood-fired at 1000°C

Traditional ceramic production with substantial outdoor character.

The Sienna is wood-fired at approximately 1000°C, creating a dense terracotta body with frost-resistant properties suited to outdoor use.

The firing process also contributes to the variation within the glaze, helping create the individual tonal character that distinguishes one Sienna from another.

Concealed reservoir installation

Keep the mechanics beneath the finished garden.

The Sienna is supplied with a 90cm diameter x 36cm high pebble pool reservoir and heavy-duty support grid, allowing the water system to be concealed below the finished surface.

Prepare

Choose a firm, level location with access to a suitable outdoor electrical supply.

Excavate

Prepare a suitable opening for the supplied 90 x 36cm pebble pool reservoir.

Position

Install the reservoir securely and level before positioning the support grid above.

Install the pump

Position the supplied mains-powered pump inside the reservoir and connect the plumbing.

Position the Sienna

Carefully place the ceramic fountain centrally above the supported reservoir.

Connect

Complete the water connection between the pump and fountain.

Finish

Conceal the remaining grid with decorative pebbles while retaining access for maintenance.

Fill & enjoy

Fill the reservoir and switch on the pump. Water flows over the Sienna before returning to the concealed pool below.

No permanent mains water supply required The system continuously recirculates the same water. Simply top up the reservoir periodically to replace water naturally lost through evaporation and splash.

Drain the fountain during freezing conditions

The wood-fired construction provides frost-resistant properties, but we recommend draining the fountain over winter as an additional precaution.

Preventing water from freezing within the pot or plumbing reduces unnecessary pressure on the ceramic and helps protect the complete water system during prolonged cold weather.
