Caldera Rainbow Sandstone 70cm Column Water Feature

A slim architectural column carved from solid Indian rainbow sandstone, combining strong vertical presence with the colour and individuality of genuine natural stone.

Standing approximately 70cm high but only 20cm across, Caldera creates considerably more height than a bowl or sphere without requiring a large footprint.

Water bubbles gently from the top before spreading over the stone and travelling down the full length of the column. As it flows, the sandstone deepens from softer pastel tones to richer oranges, reds, browns and purples.

An integrated LED light illuminates the water at the top of the column after dark, giving the feature a second visual character for evening use.

From a gentle bubble to a full-length shimmering cascade.

Water is pumped through the centre of the stone and emerges at the top of the column.

It spreads across the upper surface before breaking over the edge and travelling down the sandstone exterior.

Because the stone stands approximately 70cm high, the water remains visible for much longer than on a low-profile feature, revealing different bands and colours as it moves down the column.

Caldera's simple column shape deliberately keeps the carving restrained, allowing the natural sandstone and moving water to provide the detail.

At approximately 70cm high and just 20cm in diameter, the feature has a height-to-width ratio that creates a noticeably more architectural appearance than lower natural stone fountains.

Solid Indian rainbow sandstone

Natural layers become dramatically richer under water.

Rainbow sandstone is known for its expressive natural banding and varied mineral palette.

When dry, the stone can appear relatively soft and pastel. Once wet, oranges, reds, browns and purple tones become much deeper and more prominent.

On a tall Caldera column, those natural layers extend vertically through the feature, so flowing water continually changes which colours and markings catch the light.

Every column is naturally different

Exact colour, banding, mineral markings and subtle dimensions will vary from one piece of natural sandstone to another. Product photography should therefore be considered representative rather than an exact match.

Natural sunlight reveals the sandstone's individual layers while flowing water darkens the stone and produces changing reflections across its surface.

After dark

The integrated LED illuminates the bubbling water at the top of the column, drawing attention to the point where the flow begins before it travels down the stone.

Designed for vertical impact

Particularly effective where floor space is limited.

The narrow column shape makes Caldera useful in positions where a wide sphere, bowl or large reservoir-top feature could occupy too much visual space.

It works particularly well beside planting, against architectural landscaping or as a vertical counterpoint to horizontal paving and low borders.

Hide the reservoir and let the column appear to rise from the landscape.

The supplied 66cm diameter heavy-duty pebble pool is installed below the finished surface, leaving the sandstone column as the visible focal point.

Choose the position

Select a firm, level location with access to a suitable outdoor electrical supply.

Excavate

Prepare an opening for the supplied 66cm diameter heavy-duty pebble pool.

Level the reservoir

Install the pebble pool securely and ensure it is level beneath the finished surface.

Install the pump

Position the mains-powered pump inside the reservoir and route the water connection through the column.

Prepare the support

Ensure the support area is stable and suitable for the solid natural stone column.

Position the column

Carefully centre and level the 70cm sandstone column above the concealed reservoir.

Finish the surface

Conceal the reservoir area with decorative pebbles while retaining suitable access for maintenance.

Fill & enjoy

Fill the reservoir and switch on the pump. Water rises to the top and cascades down the column before returning below.

No permanent water supply required Caldera uses a self-contained recirculating water system, so no permanent plumbing connection is required. The included pump is mains powered. Simply top up the reservoir periodically to replace water lost through evaporation and splash.

When wet

Water deepens the surface dramatically, bringing stronger orange, red, brown and purple tones to the foreground while increasing contrast between individual layers.
