Miren Large Babbling Basalt Water Feature

A substantial hand-carved natural basalt water feature with a beautifully simple babbling water effect.

Measuring approximately 65–70cm across, the Miren Large Babbling Basalt combines a smooth polished dished top with rugged natural stone edges, creating a striking contrast between refined and raw finishes.

Water bubbles gently from the centre of the stone, forming a shallow pool across the polished upper surface before spilling over the irregular outer edges. As the basalt becomes wet, its natural black, charcoal and subtle brown tones deepen considerably, bringing the stone to life.

At approximately 80kg, this is a substantial piece of solid natural stone with enough presence to create a genuine garden focal point without the scale of the Extra Large Miren.

The supplied 90cm pebble pool is buried below ground, leaving only the basalt stone and your choice of decorative pebbles visible. Fully self-contained, the water continuously recirculates from the hidden reservoir below, so no permanent water supply is required.

The 90cm pebble pool is buried beneath the finished garden surface and can be concealed with decorative pebbles for a clean, integrated installation.

The Miren water effect

Natural basalt comes alive with water.

Basalt is a dense natural volcanic stone, giving every Miren its own individual shape, texture and subtle variations in colour.

The upper surface is carefully polished and dished to create a shallow pool. Water bubbles into the centre before spreading naturally across the smooth surface and cascading over the irregular stone edges.

When dry, the basalt displays softer charcoal and grey tones. Once wet, the stone becomes considerably darker and richer, highlighting the contrast between the polished top and rugged natural exterior.

Central bubbling Water rises gently through the centre of the basalt.

Shallow surface pool The polished dished top allows the water to spread across the stone.

Natural cascading edge Water spills over the irregular hand-carved perimeter.

Richer when wet Water intensifies the natural charcoal, black and brown tones.

Genuine natural stone

Every Miren is different.

This isn't a moulded reproduction. Each Miren is carved from a genuine piece of natural basalt, so no two fountains will ever be exactly alike.

Variations in overall diameter, shape, natural edge profile, surface markings and colour are expected and form part of the appeal of a genuine natural stone water feature.

Seamless in-ground installation

Hide the working parts beneath the garden.

The supplied 90cm pebble pool is designed to be buried below ground so the functional components disappear beneath the finished garden surface.

Prepare

Choose a firm, level position with access to a suitable outdoor electrical supply.

Excavate

Dig a suitable hole for the supplied 90cm pebble pool.

Position

Install the pebble pool securely and level, with the upper edge sitting slightly above the surrounding soil level to help prevent soil and surface water entering it.

Install the pump

Position the supplied pump inside the pebble pool and connect the water pipe to the pre-drilled basalt stone.

Fit the grid

Position the galvanised support grid securely over the 90cm pebble pool.

Position the stone

Carefully position the basalt centrally over the supported area. At approximately 80kg, suitable lifting assistance will be required.

Finish

Cover the visible grid with your choice of decorative pebbles while retaining suitable access to the pump for future maintenance.

Fill & enjoy

Fill the pebble pool and switch on the pump. Water bubbles onto the polished top before cascading over the natural edges and returning to the hidden reservoir below.

Installation consideration The basalt weighs approximately 80kg. Plan the final position and access route before installation and use suitable lifting assistance when placing the stone.

The perfect mid-size Miren

Enough scale to make an impact without dominating the space.

At approximately 65–70cm across, the Large Miren sits between our more compact babbling basalt fountains and the Extra Large statement model.

It has enough scale to become a strong focal point within a patio, planted border or landscaped garden, while remaining easier to integrate into more modest spaces than the 85–90cm Extra Large version.

Its broad, low profile also allows the water effect to be appreciated from every direction, making it particularly effective where the feature can be viewed from several seating areas or windows.
