BOOK A CONSULTATIONA tall architectural water column combining a slim 20cm footprint with 90cm of vertical Corten steel and continuously moving water.
This is the larger of the Caldera Corten columns and is designed for spaces where the water feature should have a stronger visual presence without becoming physically wide or bulky.
Water rises through the centre before flowing over the top and down the four steel faces, creating a shimmering vertical surface against the warm pre-weathered Corten finish.
The simple geometric form makes it particularly effective within contemporary landscapes, where the contrast between clean lines, rust-toned steel, planting and moving water can become a defining feature of the space.
Increasing the height to 90cm gives the Caldera considerably more presence while retaining the same compact 20 x 20cm footprint.
The taller proportions make this version easier to see above planting and from further across the garden.
The rust-toned Corten surface softens the geometry of the column and provides a natural contrast against green planting.
The extra height does not require a wider column, making it possible to create significant impact in relatively narrow spaces.
Water is pumped internally through the column before emerging from the top of the feature.
It spreads across the upper surface and flows over each edge, travelling down the four vertical Corten faces.
At 90cm high, the water has considerably more distance to travel than on a lower feature, creating a larger moving surface and more visible reflections across the weathered steel.
The Caldera deliberately avoids decorative detail. Its appeal comes from proportion, material and water movement.
Extending the column to 90cm while retaining its 20 x 20cm section gives this version a noticeably leaner and more architectural silhouette than the 70cm model.
The column is manufactured from 1.5mm Corten steel and arrives pre-weathered with the distinctive orange-brown tones associated with weathered steel.
This gives the clean architectural shape a warmer and more organic quality than painted or polished metal.
Corten works particularly well within garden settings because the rust-toned surface provides strong contrast against green planting while remaining sympathetic to timber, gravel, stone and other natural landscape materials.
A Corten surface is not intended to look completely uniform like painted steel. Differences in tone and weathered appearance are part of the material's architectural character.
At 90cm high, this version can hold its own within larger planting schemes and more open landscape designs.
Position it amongst grasses or evergreen foliage for strong colour contrast, against a contemporary wall for a cleaner architectural composition, or at the end of a sight line to create a defined visual destination.
Despite its extra height, the narrow 20cm footprint keeps the feature practical for spaces where ground area is limited.
The supplied reservoir measures approximately 66cm in diameter and 40cm deep. Installed below the finished surface, it allows the tall Corten column to appear to rise directly from the surrounding gravel, paving or planting.
Select a firm, level location with access to a suitable outdoor electrical supply.
Prepare an opening for the 66cm diameter reservoir, allowing for its approximately 40cm depth.
Install the pool securely and ensure it is level beneath the finished landscape surface.
Position the mains-powered pump inside the reservoir and connect the water feed to the column.
Centre the 90cm Corten column securely over the reservoir and ensure it stands vertical.
Run the pump and adjust the water flow so it distributes cleanly over the top edges.
Conceal the reservoir with decorative pebbles or your chosen landscape finish while retaining maintenance access.
Water continuously cycles from the reservoir, through the column and back into the hidden pool below.
Decorative pebbles are available separately, allowing the reservoir to disappear beneath a finish chosen to complement the Corten steel and surrounding landscape.
The column displays the warm orange-brown tones and natural variation of pre-weathered Corten steel.
Water darkens sections of the surface and adds moving highlights across the full 90cm height, making the steel appear more dynamic and visually layered.
Explore the wider Caldera collection for alternative heights, materials and water effects, from compact natural stone columns to taller Corten statement pieces.
The 90cm version gives noticeably more vertical presence while retaining the same slim footprint. Our water feature specialists can help you compare scale, positioning and installation options.
