Miren Babbling Ripple Top Basalt Water Feature

A distinctive natural basalt fountain with a hand-carved ripple pattern that shapes the water as it moves across the stone.

Measuring approximately 50 x 55cm, the Miren Ripple Top combines the rugged character of solid volcanic stone with a sculpted upper surface that creates a more decorative water effect than a traditional smooth babbling stone.

Water bubbles gently from the centre before travelling through the carved circular ripples and cascading naturally over the outer edges. As the basalt becomes wet, its charcoal, black and subtle brown tones deepen considerably, making the carved pattern increasingly pronounced.

At approximately 25kg, the Ripple Top retains the substance and individuality of genuine natural stone while remaining compact enough for patios, borders and smaller landscaped spaces.

Circular channels are carved across the upper surface, adding texture and detail that remains visible even when the feature is switched off.

Water interacts with the carved channels as it moves outwards, making the ripple design more pronounced once the stone is wet.

The carved surface becomes part of the water effect.

What makes the Ripple Top distinctive is the pattern carved across its upper surface.

Rather than simply spreading across a smooth dished top, water bubbles from the centre and interacts with the sculpted channels as it travels towards the natural outer edge.

The result is a more textured and decorative effect, with the circular ripple pattern becoming increasingly defined as the basalt becomes wet.

Genuine natural basalt

Basalt is a dense volcanic stone with natural variation in colour, markings, texture and overall form.

When dry, the Ripple Top displays softer grey and charcoal tones. Once water begins flowing, the stone becomes considerably darker and richer, bringing out both the carved pattern and subtle natural detail within the basalt.

The contrast between the structured ripple design and the naturally irregular outer edge gives this Miren a balance of contemporary styling and genuine natural character.

Every stone is different

Exact shape, markings, natural edge profile and colour will vary between individual pieces. Subtle differences in the hand-finished ripple surface should also be expected.

Seamless in-ground installation

Hide the water system beneath the finished garden.

The supplied 67cm diameter x 34cm high reservoir is designed to be buried below ground, leaving only the natural basalt and your chosen decorative finish visible.

Prepare

Choose a firm, level position with access to a suitable outdoor electrical supply.

Excavate

Dig a suitable hole for the supplied 67cm diameter x 34cm high underground reservoir.

Position

Install the reservoir securely and level, with the upper edge slightly above surrounding soil level.

Install the pump

Position the pump inside the reservoir and connect the water pipe to the pre-drilled basalt stone.

Fit the grid

Position the supplied 70cm heavy-duty galvanised steel support grid securely over the reservoir.

Position the stone

Carefully position the basalt centrally over the supported area.

Add the lighting

Position the supplied LED light to illuminate the bubbling water and carved ripple surface.

Finish

Cover the visible grid with decorative pebbles while retaining suitable access to the pump for future maintenance.

Fill & enjoy

Fill the reservoir and switch on the pump. Water bubbles from the centre, travels across the carved top and returns to the hidden reservoir below.
