Miren Babbling Basalt Water Feature

A compact natural stone water feature with the weight, texture and individuality of genuine hand-finished basalt.

At approximately 40–50cm across, the Miren Babbling Basalt is the most compact of the babbling stones in the collection, making it particularly well suited to patios, planted borders and smaller garden spaces.

The upper surface is smoothly polished and gently dished, while the outer edge retains the rugged texture and irregular form of the natural stone. Water bubbles gently from the centre, spreads across the shallow polished surface and then spills naturally over the perimeter.

Once wet, the basalt changes noticeably. Softer charcoal and grey tones deepen towards black and rich brown, increasing the contrast between the refined upper surface and the naturally textured sides.

Genuine volcanic stone brings natural variation in shape, markings, colour, texture and edge profile, giving every fountain its own individual character.

The Miren water effect

Natural basalt comes alive with water.

Basalt is a dense natural volcanic stone with subtle variations in colour, markings and surface texture.

The upper surface is polished and gently dished to create a shallow area of moving water. Water bubbles into the centre before spreading naturally across the stone and cascading over the irregular perimeter.

When dry, the Miren displays softer charcoal, grey and brown tones. Once wet, the basalt becomes noticeably darker and richer, highlighting the contrast between the polished surface and rugged natural exterior.

Gentle central bubbling Water rises through the centre rather than producing a tall jet.

Shallow moving pool The dished surface allows water to spread across the basalt.

Natural edge cascades Water falls over the irregular perimeter at different points.

Deeper colour when wet Water intensifies the natural charcoal, black and brown tones.

Genuine natural stone

This isn't a moulded reproduction. Each Miren is created from a genuine piece of natural basalt and individually hand-finished.

Designed for smaller spaces

Natural stone without needing a large garden.

At approximately 40–50cm across, this Miren is particularly well suited to areas where a larger natural stone feature could overwhelm the surrounding space.

Its broad, low profile also allows it to sit comfortably amongst planting without blocking views across the garden.

Concealed in-ground installation

Keep the water system beneath the finished garden.

The Miren Babbling Basalt is supplied with a 60cm heavy-duty pebble pool designed to be installed below ground. Decorative pebbles can then conceal the grid and reservoir from view.

Prepare

Choose a firm, level location with access to a suitable outdoor electrical supply.

Excavate

Dig a suitable hole for the supplied 60cm pebble pool.

Position

Install the pebble pool securely and level, with its upper edge slightly above surrounding soil level.

Install the pump

Position the supplied recirculating pump inside the reservoir and connect the water pipe to the basalt.

Fit the grid

Place the galvanised steel support grid securely over the 60cm pebble pool.

Position the stone

Place the basalt centrally over the supported area and connect the water feed.

Finish

Cover the exposed grid with decorative pebbles while retaining access for future pump maintenance.

Fill & enjoy

Fill the reservoir, switch on the pump and adjust the flow until water moves evenly across the polished surface.
