Santorini Ceramic Fountain

A substantial hand-finished terracotta fountain with a cool mottled blue and stone glaze inspired by Mediterranean colour and texture.

Measuring approximately 60cm high and 70cm across, the Santorini combines generous proportions with a lower, rounded profile that gives it strong presence without becoming overly tall.

Water bubbles gently from the centre before spilling over the rim and travelling down the textured glazed exterior. As the ceramic becomes wet, the blue and stone tones deepen and reflections move across the irregular surface.

Each Santorini is individually hand-finished, so subtle differences in glaze colour and texture give every fountain its own character.

Rather than relying on a large projecting fountain jet, the Santorini uses the form and finish of the ceramic itself to shape the water effect.

As water travels across the textured surface, the blue and stone colours become richer and darker, while reflections shift across the rounded body.

The Santorini is finished in a distinctive mottled glaze that blends cooler blue tones with areas of stone colour and natural variation.

The finish isn't intended to look perfectly uniform. Changes in shade and texture across the ceramic surface help give the fountain the character of an individually crafted garden vessel.

Once water begins to flow, darker areas become more pronounced and reflections add further movement across the glazed surface.

Because each fountain is hand-finished and individually fired, subtle variation in glaze colour and texture should be expected. These differences are part of the design.

Wood-fired at 1000°C

Traditional ceramic production with outdoor durability in mind.

The Santorini is wood-fired at approximately 1000°C, creating a dense terracotta body with frost-resistant properties.

The firing process also contributes to the individual nature of the glaze, allowing subtle tonal differences to remain within the finished ceramic.

Concealed reservoir installation

Keep the water system out of sight.

The Santorini is supplied with a heavy-duty 90cm diameter x 36cm high reservoir and support grid, allowing the working components to sit beneath the finished garden surface.

Prepare

Choose a firm, level position with access to a suitable outdoor electrical supply.

Excavate

Prepare a suitable opening for the supplied 90 × 36cm reservoir.

Position

Install the heavy-duty reservoir securely and level.

Install the pump

Position the supplied mains-powered pump inside the reservoir and connect the plumbing.

Fit the grid

Position the heavy-duty support grid securely above the reservoir.

Position the Santorini

Carefully position the ceramic fountain centrally over the supported area.

Finish

Conceal the visible grid with your chosen decorative finish while retaining suitable maintenance access.

Fill & enjoy

Fill the reservoir and switch on the pump. Water flows across the ceramic before returning to the hidden reservoir below.

No permanent water supply required The fountain continuously recirculates the same water. Simply top up the reservoir periodically to replace water naturally lost through evaporation and splash.

Drain the fountain during winter

The wood-fired ceramic has frost-resistant properties, but we recommend draining the fountain during freezing conditions as an additional precaution.

Preventing water from freezing within the ceramic or plumbing reduces unnecessary pressure on the fountain and helps protect the complete water system through prolonged cold weather.
