Miren Medium Basalt Slab & Plinth Water Feature

A substantial natural basalt water feature combining a broad polished slab with a solid stone plinth for a more visible raised cascade.

Measuring approximately 60–65cm across and around 16cm high overall, the Miren Medium Slab & Plinth offers a strong natural focal point without requiring the space of the larger statement models.

Water bubbles gently from the centre of the polished upper surface before spreading across the broad stone and cascading over its rugged natural edges.

The basalt plinth raises the slab above the surrounding pebble area, increasing the visible drop of the water and creating a more pronounced trickling sound than a flat stone positioned directly at ground level.

The solid basalt plinth raises the slab above the surrounding pebble area, giving the water a greater drop beneath the edge.

A substantial piece of genuine volcanic stone with the weight, variation and individual character that comes from natural basalt.

Raised for a more visible cascade

More height lets you see and hear more of the water.

The natural basalt plinth is more than a decorative addition. By raising the slab above the surrounding pebble area, it creates a greater gap beneath the natural outer edge.

Water bubbles onto the polished surface, spreads across the broad basalt slab and then separates into individual cascades as it reaches the irregular perimeter.

The greater drop makes these streams easier to see and creates a more noticeable trickling sound as the water returns to the concealed reservoir below.

Genuine natural basalt

Natural stone becomes richer and more dramatic when wet.

Basalt is a dense volcanic stone with naturally occurring variations in colour, markings, shape and edge profile.

When dry, the stone typically displays softer grey and charcoal tones. Once water begins flowing, the basalt becomes considerably darker and richer, bringing out black and warm brown tones within the stone.

The polished upper surface creates a striking contrast against the rugged natural edge, while the broad slab provides a generous area for moving water and changing reflections.

Every Miren is different

Natural basalt forms in irregular shapes rather than a mould. Exact diameter, outline, markings, colour and edge profile will therefore vary slightly between individual stones.

Seamless in-ground installation

Hide the water system beneath the finished garden.

The supplied heavy-duty reservoir is designed to be buried below ground, leaving only the natural basalt slab, matching plinth and your chosen decorative finish visible.

Prepare

Choose a firm, level location with access to a suitable outdoor electrical supply.

Excavate

Dig a suitable hole for the supplied approximately 87cm heavy-duty reservoir.

Position

Install the reservoir securely and level, with the upper edge slightly above the surrounding soil level.

Install the pump

Position the pump inside the reservoir and connect the water pipe through the drilled plinth to the slab above.

Fit the grid

Position the approximately 90cm heavy-duty galvanised support grid securely over the reservoir.

Position the feature

Carefully position the basalt plinth and slab centrally over the supported section of the grid.

Add the lighting

Position the supplied LED light to illuminate the cascading water and wet basalt surface.

Finish

Cover the visible grid with decorative pebbles while retaining suitable access to the pump for future maintenance.

Fill & enjoy

Fill the reservoir and switch on the pump. Water spreads across the polished slab before cascading back into the hidden reservoir.

Installation consideration The natural basalt assembly weighs approximately 40kg. Plan the final location in advance and use suitable lifting assistance when positioning the stone.
