Miren Basalt Slab & Plinth Corten Patio Water Feature

Natural basalt, weathered Corten steel and moving water brought together in our flagship patio-ready Miren.

This substantial design combines a 65–70cm natural basalt slab with a matching solid-stone plinth and a warm Corten steel base, creating a distinctive focal point for patios, terraces and landscaped gardens.

Water bubbles gently from the centre of the polished basalt before spreading across the broad surface and cascading over its naturally rugged edges. The raised plinth increases the visible water drop, while the Corten surround gives the installation a strong architectural foundation.

Unlike the standard buried Miren installation, the complete reservoir remains above ground inside the Corten steel surround. This allows the feature to be installed on a suitable hard surface without excavating the patio or garden.

This version retains the natural stone character and water effect of the Large Miren while turning the reservoir itself into part of the finished design.

01 / NO-DIG INSTALLATION

Designed for patios and terraces

The 90cm pebble pool remains completely above ground inside the Corten surround, removing the need to excavate for a buried reservoir.

Dark wet basalt contrasts against the warm rust, orange and brown tones of naturally weathering Corten steel.

A raised natural stone cascade

More height makes the water easier to see and hear.

Water bubbles onto the centre of the polished basalt before spreading across the broad natural stone surface.

As it reaches the irregular outer edge, the flow separates into individual cascades. The solid basalt plinth raises the slab above the pebble area, increasing the distance the water falls and making those streams more visible.

Combined with the approximately 40cm-high Corten base, the natural stone sits much higher than on a conventional buried installation, bringing the water effect closer to eye level.

The Miren without the digging

A complete above-ground water feature system.

The standard Large Miren uses a reservoir buried beneath the finished garden surface. This patio version takes a different approach.

The heavy-duty 90cm pebble pool sits entirely above ground and is concealed inside the decorative Corten steel surround. A galvanised support grid sits above the reservoir and carries the substantial basalt plinth and slab.

Water simply falls through the decorative pebble area and grid before returning to the reservoir underneath.

Ideal where excavation isn't practical

Particularly useful for existing patios, terraces and other suitable hard-landscaped areas where cutting into paving or excavating a reservoir would be undesirable.

Easy above-ground installation

No reservoir excavation required.

The complete water system sits above ground. The feature should be installed on a firm, completely level and suitably load-bearing surface.

Choose the position

Select a firm, completely level and suitably load-bearing location with access to an appropriate outdoor electrical supply.

Position the reservoir

Place the supplied 90cm heavy-duty pebble pool securely within the Corten steel reservoir surround.

Install the pump

Position the recirculating pump inside the reservoir and connect the water pipe through the drilled basalt plinth.

Fit the grid

Position the heavy-duty galvanised steel grid securely over the reservoir.

Position the stone

Carefully place the basalt plinth and large slab centrally over the supported area.

Add the lighting

Position the supplied LED light to illuminate the bubbling and cascading water.

Finish

Add decorative pebbles over the visible grid while retaining access through the maintenance hatch.

Fill & enjoy

Fill the reservoir and switch on the pump. Water circulates continuously through the feature and back into the reservoir below.

Important positioning consideration This is a substantial water feature containing natural stone, a large reservoir and a significant volume of water. Install only on a firm, level and suitably load-bearing surface.

A strong, practical reservoir system

Although the finished base appears to be a large Corten container, the structural water reservoir itself is a heavy-duty plastic pebble pool.

This provides a dependable watertight reservoir while allowing the Corten surround to concentrate on what it does best: transforming the functional base into part of the design.

Natural basalt meets weathered Corten

Two materials that develop character outdoors.

The combination of genuine basalt and Corten steel gives this Miren a distinctly different character from the all-stone in-ground version.

Natural Basalt

When dry, the stone displays softer grey, charcoal and brown tones. Once wet, the basalt becomes considerably darker and richer, emphasising its natural markings and rugged edge.

Living Corten Steel

The weathering-steel surround develops a protective rust-coloured patina outdoors, creating changing tones of orange, rust and deep brown as the surface matures.

Please note: Corten weathering During the natural weathering process, Corten steel can release rust-coloured water or residue. Consider this carefully when positioning the feature on pale or porous paving that may be susceptible to staining.

Flagship patio presence

A substantial focal point designed to be seen.

With an overall footprint of approximately 95cm and an installed height of around 56cm, this is considerably more architectural than a conventional low-level babbling stone.

The raised position brings the basalt and moving water higher within the garden, making the feature easier to appreciate from nearby seating areas and from inside the home.

Its broad natural stone top softens the strong geometry of the Corten base, allowing the feature to work within both contemporary and naturalistic garden schemes.
