BOOK A CONSULTATIONA slim architectural water column combining clean contemporary proportions with the warm, weathered character of Corten steel.
Standing 70cm high with a compact 20 x 20cm profile, this Caldera creates clear vertical impact without requiring the footprint of a larger bowl, sphere or water wall.
Water rises through the centre before flowing over the top and down the four Corten faces, creating a constantly changing sheen across the rust-toned surface.
Supplied pre-weathered, the steel already displays the distinctive warm orange-brown finish associated with Corten, making it particularly effective within modern landscaping, gravel gardens and contemporary patios.
The square column gives Caldera a cleaner, more contemporary appearance than a natural stone feature, while the weathered steel prevents it from feeling cold or overly industrial.
Tall enough to remain clearly visible amongst planting and landscaping while retaining a compact ground footprint.
The pre-weathered rust finish introduces rich earthy colour that contrasts particularly well with green planting and contemporary hard landscaping.
A useful option where you want height and moving water without dedicating a large amount of visible garden space to the feature.
Water is pumped internally through the feature and emerges from the top of the column.
From there it travels over the edges and down the four vertical faces, creating a thin moving layer across the warm Corten finish.
The contrast between the simple geometric form and continuously moving water is what gives this version of Caldera its distinctive architectural character.
The 70cm Caldera uses a simple square-section column rather than decorative carving or complex geometry.
That restraint makes it particularly suitable for contemporary garden design, where clean proportions and strong material contrast are often more effective than added ornament.
The column is manufactured from 1.5mm Corten steel and supplied pre-weathered, giving it the characteristic orange-brown appearance associated with weathered steel.
Unlike painted steel, the visual interest comes from the steel surface itself. Variations in tone and weathering help prevent the feature from appearing overly uniform or manufactured.
The combination of warm rust colour and clean geometry works particularly well alongside planting, dark paving, gravel, timber and other contemporary landscape materials.
Corten is chosen for its weathered appearance rather than a perfectly uniform painted finish. Natural tonal variation across the steel is part of the intended aesthetic.
The warm Corten finish provides a strong visual contrast with foliage, making the column particularly effective when placed amongst grasses, architectural planting or evergreen shrubs.
Its narrow 20 x 20cm body also makes it useful in tighter positions where a large bowl or sphere could feel too broad.
Because the design can be viewed from every side, it works equally well against a backdrop or positioned as a freestanding focal point.
The column is supplied with a 66cm diameter reservoir measuring approximately 40cm deep. Once installed below the finished surface, the reservoir can be concealed so the slim steel column remains the visual focus.
Select a firm, level location with access to a suitable outdoor electrical supply.
Prepare a suitable opening for the 66cm diameter reservoir, allowing for its approximately 40cm depth.
Position the pool securely and ensure it is level beneath the finished garden surface.
Position the supplied mains-powered pump within the reservoir and connect the water feed to the column.
Centre the Corten column securely over the reservoir and ensure it stands upright.
Run the pump and adjust the flow so water distributes evenly over the upper edges.
Conceal the reservoir with decorative pebbles or your chosen landscape finish while retaining maintenance access.
The water continuously circulates from the reservoir, through the column and back below.
Decorative pebbles are available separately, allowing the reservoir to be concealed beneath a finish chosen to complement the Corten steel and surrounding landscape.
The pre-weathered steel provides a warm rust-toned architectural surface with natural tonal variation across the column.
Water adds a darker sheen and moving reflections to the steel, emphasising the vertical form and giving the otherwise static surface a constantly changing appearance.
