Miren Babbling Basalt Boulder Water Feature

A naturally shaped solid basalt boulder transformed into an understated garden water feature with an organic, spring-like water effect.

At approximately 45cm in diameter and 15cm high, the Miren Boulder has a compact footprint but a more raised, three-dimensional form than our flatter babbling basalt designs.

Water bubbles gently from the top of the stone before travelling across the irregular basalt surface and cascading naturally down the sides. Rather than following a uniform path, the water responds to the individual contours of each natural boulder.

As the basalt becomes wet, its charcoal, black and subtle brown tones deepen considerably, highlighting the natural texture and markings within the stone.

A more natural, three-dimensional take on the babbling basalt.

The Boulder replaces the broad polished surface of the classic Miren with a more irregular natural form, creating a water effect that feels closer to a small spring emerging from stone.

At approximately 15cm high, the Boulder sits more prominently above the surrounding pebble area than the flatter Miren stones.

Water follows the natural stone

Irregular contours create individual channels and cascades rather than a perfectly uniform flow, giving every Boulder a slightly different water effect.

Water follows the natural contours of the stone.

The Miren Boulder is designed to look less like a manufactured fountain and more like water naturally emerging from a piece of stone.

Water bubbles from the top before finding its own route across the uneven basalt surface and cascading down the sides towards the concealed reservoir below.

Because every boulder has its own natural shape and contours, the exact flow pattern varies from one stone to another.

Genuine natural basalt

Every Boulder has its own character.

Basalt is a dense volcanic stone with naturally occurring variations in colour, markings, form and surface texture.

When dry, the stone displays softer grey and charcoal tones. Once water begins flowing, the basalt becomes considerably darker and richer, revealing natural detail that can be far less noticeable when the stone is dry.

The rugged form also gives water multiple natural channels to follow, ensuring that no two Miren Boulders produce exactly the same pattern.

Please note

Every Miren Boulder is formed from genuine natural basalt. Shape, size, colour, markings and surface texture will vary slightly between individual stones, making each feature unique.

Seamless in-ground installation

Hide the working parts beneath the garden.

The supplied 66cm heavy-duty pebble pool is designed to be buried below ground, leaving only the natural basalt boulder and your chosen decorative finish visible.

Prepare

Choose a firm, level position with access to a suitable outdoor electrical supply.

Excavate

Dig a suitable hole for the supplied 66cm pebble pool.

Position

Install the 66cm pebble pool securely and level, with the upper edge slightly above the surrounding soil level to help prevent soil and surface water entering it.

Install the pump

Position the pump inside the pebble pool and connect the water pipe to the pre-drilled basalt boulder.

Fit the grid

Position the heavy-duty galvanised steel support grid securely over the pebble pool.

Position the boulder

Carefully position the basalt centrally over the supported section of the grid.

Add the lighting

Position the supplied white LED light to illuminate the flowing water and wet stone surface.

Finish

Cover the visible grid with decorative pebbles while keeping the access hatch available for future pump maintenance.

Fill & enjoy

Fill the pebble pool and switch on the pump. Water bubbles from the top of the boulder, travels naturally across the stone and returns to the hidden reservoir below.
