Rosara Rainbow Sandstone 50cm Curved Babbling Bowl

A distinctive hand-carved sandstone bowl with a smooth curved, doughnut-like form and rich natural colour that becomes dramatically more vivid when wet.

Measuring approximately 50cm across and 16cm high, this Rosara takes the traditional babbling bowl in a more sculptural direction. The gently rounded profile gives the stone a smooth, contemporary appearance while retaining the individuality of genuine Indian sandstone.

Water rises gently through the centre before flowing across the curved upper surface and spilling naturally around the outer edge. The shape creates a continuous ring of moving water rather than the flatter surface associated with a conventional bowl.

When wet, the natural oranges, browns, reds and purple tones within the sandstone become richer and more pronounced, making the stone itself a major part of the water effect.

The curved Rosara water effect

Water follows the shape of the stone.

Water rises gently from the centre before flowing outwards over the smooth curved sandstone surface.

Rather than filling a deep bowl, the water travels across the rounded profile, creating a thin moving layer that reflects light and intensifies the natural colour beneath.

The flow then reaches the outer edge and falls into the concealed reservoir below, where it is continuously recirculated.

Central bubbling Water begins gently at the centre of the stone.

Curved surface flow Water follows the smooth rounded profile outwards.

360° edge cascade Water spills naturally around the perimeter.

Hidden recirculation Water returns to the underground reservoir and is continuously reused.

Rainbow sandstone is known for its naturally varied palette, which can include orange, brown, red, purple, cream and softer earthy tones.

These colours are part of the sandstone itself rather than an applied surface finish, giving every feature its own distinctive bands, swirls and natural markings.

The smooth finish helps emphasise this variation and, once wet, the stone becomes noticeably richer and more saturated.

Concealed in-ground installation

Hide the reservoir beneath the finished garden.

The supplied 66cm reinforced heavy-duty pebble pool sits below ground, leaving the curved rainbow sandstone feature and your chosen decorative finish visible.

Prepare

Choose a firm, level location with access to a suitable outdoor electrical supply.

Excavate

Prepare a suitable opening for the supplied 66cm diameter heavy-duty pebble pool.

Position

Install the reservoir securely and level beneath the finished surface.

Install the pump

Position the supplied recirculating pump inside the reservoir and connect the pipework to the pre-drilled stone.

Prepare the support

Ensure the reservoir support is secure and suitable for the solid sandstone feature.

Position the bowl

Carefully centre the 50cm curved sandstone feature over the supported reservoir.

Finish

Conceal the reservoir with decorative pebbles while retaining suitable access to the pump for maintenance.

Fill & enjoy

Fill the reservoir and switch on the pump. Water flows across the curved stone before continuously returning below.

No permanent water supply required The Rosara uses a self-contained recirculating water system. Simply top up the reservoir periodically to replace water naturally lost through evaporation and splash.
