THE PROJECT
A two-metre sphere made for a commercial courtyard.
WaterFeatures.com was tasked with manufacturing a large sphere water feature for the Office for National Statistics in Newport.
The Aterno 200cm Stainless Steel Sphere provided the scale required for the courtyard while retaining a clean, simple form.
The running water introduces sound and movement into a space used by staff for breaks and outdoor collaborative working.

LONG-TERM PRESENCE
Still standing out years later.
The sphere remains in place today with its mirrored finish still forming a strong visual focal point within the courtyard.
Its scale is particularly clear from satellite imagery, where the feature is visible within the wider ONS site.

At this scale, the sphere becomes a piece of landscape architecture as much as a water feature — adding reflection, movement and sound without introducing visual clutter.
