NATURAL STONE   /   INDIVIDUAL BY DESIGN

Natural Stone Water Features

Discover sandstone, granite, slate, basalt, limestone and marble fountains in spheres, bowls, columns, twists, monoliths and naturally sculptural forms.

Every piece of natural stone has its own colour, grain, layers and markings. Once wet, those variations often become richer and more pronounced, making the material itself an important part of the finished design.

CHOOSING YOUR STONE

Different materials create very different gardens.

Start with the colour, texture and character you want, then choose the shape and scale of the feature.

SANDSTONE

Warm, layered & naturally varied

Rainbow sandstone can contain cream, gold, red, brown, pink and grey tones. Water enriches the colour and highlights the layers, making it particularly effective in planted and naturalistic gardens.

GRANITE

Refined, strong & architectural

Granite creates a cleaner and more restrained look. Polished and finely finished surfaces work particularly well with contemporary paving, structured planting and modern landscaping.

SLATE

Dark, textured & dramatic

Slate brings layered texture and deep grey colour. Its surface changes noticeably when wet, making it particularly effective for textured spheres, monoliths and statement pieces.

BASALT

Rugged, dense & sculptural

Basalt has a darker, more organic character and works particularly well as natural boulders, slabs, columns and carved forms where the original stone remains part of the design.

LIMESTONE

Smooth & understated

Black limestone offers a deep, sophisticated colour with less surface texture than slate. It works well when you want natural stone with a simpler, more contemporary appearance.

MARBLE

Polished & decorative

Marble sits at the more decorative end of the collection, with distinctive veining and polished surfaces giving the stone itself a stronger visual presence.

CHOOSE THE FORM

From precise geometry to completely natural stone.

Once you have chosen the material, decide how formal or organic you want the feature to feel within the garden.

SPHERESSculptural and easy to view from several directions. Ideal for central positions, borders and contemporary landscaped gardens.
BOWLSLower and calmer, with a gentler bubbling effect that works particularly well beside seating, patios and planting.
COLUMNS & TWISTSCreate height while using relatively little ground space. Carved forms add movement even before the water is switched on.
MONOLITHS & BOULDERSChoose natural stone forms when individuality, texture and organic character matter more than perfect symmetry.

NOT SURE?

Start With the Material

Choose warm sandstone, refined granite, textured slate or rugged basalt first, then narrow the collection by shape and scale.

NATURAL VARIATION

No two natural stone features are exactly the same.

Variation is part of the appeal of genuine stone rather than a defect or manufacturing inconsistency.

COLOUR & MARKINGS

Photographs should be treated as a guide.

Tone, grain, layers, veining and surface markings naturally vary between pieces, particularly with rainbow sandstone, slate and irregular basalt.

DRY VS WET

Water often makes the stone richer.

Many natural stones darken and reveal more colour when wet, so the fountain can look noticeably more vivid when running than when viewed dry.

FIND YOUR STONE

Choose the material first, then the shape.

Choose sandstone for warm natural variation, granite for a cleaner architectural finish, slate for layered texture or basalt for a more rugged sculptural look. Then decide whether your garden suits a sphere, bowl, twist, column or natural monolith.
